Futch Forum Speaker: Pierre Lemieux

Following the success of its inaugural event, keynoted by Congressman Joe Wilson, the Futch Forum is excited to announce economist and author Pierre Lemieux as its next speaker. Mr. Lemieux willspeak on the importance of free markets for liberty and prosperity over the next 50 years. His lecture corresponds with his recent publication in The Independent Review called “From Lemonade Stands to 2065,” in which he intends: (1) to build a simple forecast of the standard of living, (2) to explore a neglected megatrend, (3) to look at surprises that might further affect the world before 2065, and (4) to reorganize all these factors around two possible polar worlds.

Lemieuxhas authored several books on economics, including: Who Needs Jobs? Spreading Poverty of Increasing Welfare (2014); The Public Debt Problem: A Comprehensive Guide (2013); and Somebody in Charge: A Solution to Recessions? (2011). Currently affiliated with the University of Quebec in Outaouais, Lemieux is a Senior Fellow at the Montreal Economic Institute. He has published pieces in several financial newspapers including the Wall Street Journal and the National Post, in addition to holding a column at the Western Standard. Mr. Lemieux has served as a consultant to both national and international companies. He currently resides in Maine.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 5th in Stackhouse Theater at 6:30 pm. Mr. Lemieux will be answering questions following his lecture. Admission is free and open to the public.
