The Spectator Presents: Jason Riley
The Wall Street Journal columnist will discuss social and economic inequalities.
Join The W&L Spectator in Lee Chapel at 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 24th to hear Wall Street Journal opinion columnist Jason Riley discuss the realities of social and economic inequality.
Riley authors the “Upward Mobility” column, which has run since 2016 and discusses economics, politics, and race. Riley’s recent Journal articles discuss affirmative action, school choice, and Matt Walsh’s new film Am I Racist?
He also serves as a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute. He was awarded a Bradley Prize in 2018 to recognize his efforts to “restore, strengthen, and protect the principles and institutions of American exceptionalism.”
Riley began working for The Journal in 1994 and has written four books, including Please Stop Helping Us: How Liberals Make It Harder for Blacks to Succeed and, most recently, Maverick: A Biography of Thomas Sowell.
His talk, titled “The Trouble with Social Justice,” will draw on Sowell’s ideas to examine the underlying causes of social and economic inequality before discussing what can be done to address them.
The talk will be followed by 20 minutes of audience Q&A.
Please reserve a ticket through Eventbrite to guarantee your seat. Doors will open at 7:10 PM.
